What bearing diagnosis does
Bearing diagnosis uses the selected bearing's characteristic coefficients, speed and envelope spectrum to match peaks near theoretical characteristic frequencies. It displays frequency deviation, amplitude and decision criteria. It organizes diagnostic evidence; the human conclusion and maintenance recommendation still require review against field operating conditions.
BPFO is the outer-race ball-pass frequency, BPFI the inner-race ball-pass frequency, BSF the rolling-element spin frequency and FTF the cage frequency. The interface calculates theoretical values by multiplying the selected bearing coefficient by rotational frequency, where rotational frequency equals RPM/60.
Complete a bearing diagnosis
- Open Bearing Diagnosis from Home and confirm its license is available.
- Click Select Acquisition Record, search by equipment or point, and choose a measured, complete, analyzable record.
- Open bearing selection, search by brand or model, verify the coefficients and apply the bearing.
- Enter a valid speed consistent with the measured operating condition and check tolerance. The recorded control accepts 1% to 20%; a wider tolerance does not automatically improve accuracy.
- Run the diagnosis and wait for the actual result.
- Inspect the envelope spectrum, characteristic-frequency markers and matching table. Open Decision Criteria to review thresholds and frequency resolution.
- Enter the diagnosis conclusion and maintenance recommendation in Human Review and save them.
- Confirm that edits are saved and the result is current before generating a report.
Interpret the matching table
Each row includes a characteristic code, coefficient, theoretical frequency, measured peak frequency, peak amplitude, deviation and judgment. The theoretical frequency depends on the correct bearing and speed; the measured peak comes from the current data. A close match is only part of the evidence.
A result that finds no characteristic exceeding the decision conditions does not prove the machine is entirely fault-free. Conversely, a characteristic match alone should not identify a fault location without considering processing band, sampling resolution, operating condition and other mechanical excitation.
Change the window function or frequency band
Open Spectrum Recalculation in the parameter panel and select Envelope, Acceleration, Velocity or Displacement Spectrum. The recorded page offers rectangular, Hann and Hamming windows. Frequency limits supported by each spectrum type must satisfy the record's sample rate and application validation.
Recalculate and Save with Current Parameters saves processing parameters and results against the current historical record. This changes data processing, rather than only chart appearance. The previous diagnosis may become invalid. Follow the prompt to diagnose again and recheck the human conclusion.
Results processed with different frequency bands or windows are not unconditionally comparable.
Human review and diagnosis history
The conclusion and maintenance-recommendation fields each have a 2000-character limit. Save any unsaved changes before creating a report or leaving the page.
A new diagnosis, a historical snapshot and unsaved edits are different states. In diagnosis history, check the time and diagnosis ID instead of treating an old snapshot as a newly run result. History supports queries and pagination.
Reporting is restricted when review changes are unsaved, the diagnosis is stale or a historical snapshot is being viewed. Return to a valid current result and finish saving first.
Why an ISO vibration grade is not given
The recorded page explicitly reports Not Evaluated because machine category, foundation type, the required velocity RMS value and other necessary settings are missing. It cannot assign a standard vibration grade under those conditions. Bearing characteristic matching and an ISO grade assessment are different conclusions.
Resolve common blockers
| Problem | Check |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis cannot run | Complete and analyzable record, bearing selection, valid speed and feature license |
| Bearing cannot be found | Exact brand and model; do not substitute a merely similar model |
| Spectrum has no data | Loading errors and envelope-spectrum availability; retry after resolving the error |
| Report control is disabled | Unsaved human review, stale results or a historical-snapshot state |
| Results changed unexpectedly | Whether the record, bearing, speed, tolerance or processing parameters changed |
